Irish Dexters are a hardy, dual purpose breed and have one of the highest feed to milk/beef capacities.They are excellent mothers with low birth weight calves. Their small size makes them an ideal choice for smaller homesteads and hobby farms.  We can attest first hand to their hardiness; recently one of our cows decided that 27 degrees was perfect calving weather!
